House Manager 

Part-time: under 35 hours per week
Full-time: 35 hours or more per week

  • 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
  • 3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
  • 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
  • 8:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the daily operation of the Residential Group Home including housekeeping and the purchasing of groceries, housewares, and any other items needed for a clean and comfortable living environment.
  • This individual will promote the mission and vision of the agency in all communications and interactions with individuals, staff, and the referral community.
  • Maintains the home in a licensure-ready state, including ensuring documentation is complete, detailed, and in accordance with regulations.
  • Develops and maintains positive work relationships with Community Service Boards and other service professionals involved in the planning and treatment of individuals served.
  • Assists in conducting assessments and ensuring individual service plans and/or treatment plans are adhered to and in alignment with the needs of each individual.
  • Assists and empowers the growth and development of all individuals and staff members.
  • Ensures the home functions within its allocated weekly, monthly, and annual budgets.
  • Conducts monthly staff meetings to problem-solve and evaluate individual progress and facilitates the incorporation of clinical staff to promote optimal success for each individual.
  • Ensures documentation is completed daily according to policy regulations.
  • Provides guidance and supervision for all staff as well as participates in vital individualized and/or group supervisory meetings on a regular basis.
  • Maintains an active role in training staff, disciplinary actions, and evaluations.
  • The QDDP/Program Administrator will act on the behalf of the House Manager when he/she is not available.

Knowledge skills and abilities:

  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Ability to utilize conflict resolution techniques and other preventive strategies needed to interpret and respond appropriately to rapidly changing events.
  • Ability to influence, negotiate, instruct, and guide individuals in a way that is beneficial to their success and well-being.
  • Good decision-making and communication skills are necessary.
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Skilled in typing and using word processing software.
  • Skilled in implementing ISP Plans goals.
  • Knowledge of the special needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail.

 This position requires:

  • Supervisory Training (DBHDS)
  • Commonwealth of VA Learning Center Training (COVLC)
  • Maintain a valid state issued Drivers license.
  • Current certification in CPR/First Aid
  • Medication Administration Training 32-hour class
  • Therapeutic Options of Virginia (TOVA) Training
  • Clear Background Investigation and Central Registry

Working Conditions:

  1. Exposure to significant work pace/pressure.
  2. Exposure to chemicals and disinfectants.
  3. Exposure to bodily fluids.
  4. Position requires heavy lifting of more than 50 lbs., standing for long periods of time, and frequent bending.
  5. Driving wheelchair-accessible vehicles while attending community activities and appointments.

  • TOVA training.
  • Cooperates with all investigations, meetings, hearings, or appeals held under these regulations. Cooperation includes, but not limited to, giving statements and/or sworn testimony.
  • 40 hours a week: Sunday to Saturday with varying hours as needed to supervise staff and assist individuals.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

Direct Support Professional

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists staff with admitting clients into the program.
  • Answers the telephone appropriately.
  • Assists individuals with ADLs (bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding).
  • Leads individuals in recreational activities.
  • Report any physical or behavioral signs that might be important for the QDDP to know.
  • Cook meals and prepare snacks for individuals
  • Assist individuals with housekeeping activities, which includes laundering and ironing of clothes.
  • The incumbent is responsible for the daily supervision and safety of all individuals, including responding to the physical, psychological, medical spiritual, emotional, and developmental needs of each client.
  • The incumbent supports and promotes a clean and healthy environment of all individuals.
  • Provides written and verbal feedback necessary to plan, develop, implement and further the advancement of each individual.
  • Works closely with designated clients to guide and support them in accomplishing behavioral, personal, vocational, educational, and independent living goals.
  • The incumbent is required to use the company vehicle to transport clients as needed.
  • Attendance at monthly staff meetings is mandatory.
